  • Celebramos los cuatro años del acuerdo Cacao, Bosques y Paz, con grandes logros en la articulación de actores estratégicos y la consolidación de un cacao sostenible en el país.
  • Este acuerdo protege los bosques y aporta a la implementación de paz en los territorios, así como la protección del ecosistema.

Bogotá D.C., 2 de agosto de 2022 -MADS-. Dentro de los importantes logros se destaca el crecimiento de seis firmantes adherentes del acuerdo en el 2018 a 21 adherentes en el 2022, más de cinco aliados estratégicos nacionales y tres internacionales, pertenecientes a seis diferentes sectores (público, privado, institucionalidad gremial, organizaciones internacionales, organizaciones no gubernamentales y cooperación internacional). Así mismo, se logró contar con el compromiso de más del 80% de la industria chocolatera y cacaotera del país.

“El acuerdo de cacao es muy importante para el país, durante estos 4 años se lograron hitos muy importantes para impulsar los modelos productivos de cacao cero deforestación; la creación de instrumentos financieros enfocados a estos modelos; la trazabilidad y transparencia de la cadena de valor de cacao que contribuirá a la construcción del sistema de monitoreo, reporte y verificación; además de su aporte en servicios ambientales, inclusión social y desarrollo económico; el fortalecimiento de la institucionalidad cacaotera para responder a los retos de un cacao cero deforestación, entre otros», comentó el ministro de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, Carlos Eduardo Correa.

Dentro de los principales retos del acuerdo está la incorporación de los lineamientos de siembra y compra de cacao sostenible en las políticas empresariales de la industria cacaotera y chocolatera, la replicación del programa de fortalecimiento en otras regiones del país, incorporando a los institutos del Sistema Nacional Ambiental y las Corporaciones Autónomas Regionales y, la financiación de la estrategia de comunicaciones del acuerdo a largo plazo.

Los acuerdos cero deforestación son unas de las principales estrategias que buscan reducir la deforestación de forma intersectorial. Su meta es conseguir que las cadenas agropecuarias estén libres de este flagelo e impulsen en toda su línea de producción el monitoreo, reporte y verificación que evite acciones que degraden los bosques.

El próximo año inicia una nueva fase de los acuerdos, en la que será clave la implementación de políticas públicas sectoriales, ambientales y de paz que garanticen que los compromisos adquiridos durante estos primeros cuatro años sigan generando cadenas de valor de un cacao cero deforestación a nivel nacional.
